I’m a 21-year-old student attending the George Washington University, majoring in journalism and mass communications. As a person with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair to get around, I experience the daily obstacles that chair-users face. I started exploring how I could combine the journalism skills I’ve acquired academically and professionally with my experiences as a person with a disability. My exploration started after I was firmly discouraged by a study abroad
program I had been accepted into to study in Italy because of the lack of accessibility there. Since then, I have received a grant from my university to make a documentary on accessibility in Europe. The documentary, however, is just one aspect of the awareness I intend to bring to people with disabilities. I need you to post your story about the challenges that you, your friend, your sibling, your spouse faces as a person with a disability. My story is just a mere entry in the bottomless volume of the Wheelchair Diaries.
