Wheelchair Diaries trailer

THE MESSAGE

Even though Reid is embarking on a quest for inclusion for people with disabilities, audiences of all walks of life have been receptive of his message because of the implicit themes of perseverance, acceptance and self-awareness.

His life story contains themes of overcoming adversity and the importance of diversity that are relevant to people of any age and ability.   Wheelchair Diaries is a mere example of the awareness and perspective that Reid has brought to a wide array of audiences, honing in on his own struggles and triumphs on stage.  Contact Reid to bring him to your school or community.

ABOUT REID

Reid Davenport is a journalist, public speaker and recent graduate of the George Washington University. As a person with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair to get around, he experiences the daily obstacles that other chair-users face.  Reid started exploring how he could combine the journalism skills he has acquired academically and professionally with his experiences as a person with a disability after he was firmly discouraged by a study abroad program he had been accepted to in Italy because of the lack of accessibility there.

Since then, Reid has produced a documentary on accessibility in Europe. The documentary, however, is just one aspect of the awareness he intends to bring to people with disabilities.  If you’d like Reid to speak and/or screen Wheelchair Diaries: One Step Up at your school or community, please see the contact page or fill out the form below.
